Difficult to believe that this article, about such a well known person who first had the idea for the 2016 Westworld TV series, is still a stub - it really needs writing by someone.

You maybe?

From BHO WW Site Edit

J.J. Abrams is a writer, producer and director who founded Bad Robot Productions in 2001. His work includes TV series such as Lost, Alias, Fringe, Person of Interest and Felicity, and feature films including Star Trek, Super 8, Cloverfield, Star Wars: The Force Awakens and most recently 10 Cloverfield Lane. He lives in Los Angeles with his wife, Katie McGrath, and their three children.

Some Notes Edit

The 2016 TV show seems to have been Abrams' idea, he "pitched" it to Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy.

when J. J. Abrams first presented Nolan with the tantalizing train set of “Westworld,” a few years ago, Nolan wasn’t interested.

It was Joy, who first became excited by Abrams' ideas.

[1]

"Joy: When I heard, ‘Western robot theme park. Do it as a TV show. Think about the lives of the robots’"

Nolan: Which was J. J.’s suggestion

Joy:"It suddenly just, once that thought had been triggered, I just wanted to play with it."
-Joy and Nolan, in a New Yorker interview with Tom Bissell

Once Abrams handed over development to Nolan and Joy, they began what Nolan referred to as “research time”:
